EmpowerHER: The Price of Being the Strong Black Woman

Do you consider yourself a “Strong Black Woman?” If so, then you are not alone. In a recent study of 194 participants published by Sex Roles, 80% identified as a Strong Black Woman (SBW). This study also found that depressive symptoms were related to the endorsement of the SBW archetype. The link between the two: Black women sacrificing the need to express their anger to those close to them and the belief that it is their responsibility to make those same people happy. 

Join the African-American Chamber of Commerce of PA, NJ & DE on Wednesday, March 4 for an intimate, candid and necessary conversation on dismantling the SBW Archetype -- especially among Black women entrepreneurs and business professionals. This discussion will be moderated by three Black women therapists: 

• Dr. Argie Allen Wilson, Founder and CEO of F.A.I.T.H. Inc and co-founder of Connections Matter LLC; 

• Sue Ellen Zhang, Owner of Ivy Therapist; and

• Donnetta Watson, Psychotherapist at the Ladipo Group
